The SigSec News RSS feed is currently undergoing beta, if you would like to test the feed out, please click
here (assuming your browser supports rss feeds).
This feed is an aggregation of a variety of news sources, scanning
for certain keywords. The new SigSec web page will soon be generated from the RSS data stored in another feed, to be released
soon, of local SigSec events.
The website is now under the supervision of the newly created Web Team! Comments can still be directed to sigsec@umr.edu.
Over the course of the next few days the web site should receive numerous updates in all sections, and new features too! Thanks!
Dr. Miller's presentation on Computer and Network Security attacks is now online. It is a great read.
Tonight's activity was a quick overview of how to crack some of the
simplest methods of encryption. Check it out for more information.
Brian Buege came to the February 9th meeting and gave a great talk on
BotNets. He also had a cool demo set up of a bot in action. If you
missed the meeting then you missed out BIG TIME. Below are links to a

Due to confusion about some of the statements made in the Wireless Audit
article I have posted some supplemental information. Most issues stem
from confusion over the target audience for our article. Additional
information relating to the concerns of the technical community have
been added.
The headline pretty much sums it up. The new website is up! We are still
adding content, fixing errors, and making changes, but this is more or
less the final product.
Note: further down the page you will find links for two
differnt style of the site. Content is generated dynamically, thus
both versions will be equally up-to-date. We are also open to
suggestions for additional designs, layouts, color schemes, and logos.
Please email an officer if you have a suggestion.
Josh and Jason were interviewed on RollaTV January 13th 2005. We
discussed the results of SIG Security's Wireless Audit of
Rolla and a few basic tips. If you would like to take a look at the
video follow the link below. Big thanks to Apple's iMovie for making
editing and encoding a breeze.
ACM SIG Security wrote an article summarizing our findings from
last semester's wireless audit. Several news sources have picked up
the article including: UMR Research, CS Research, The Waynesville
Daily Guide, and RollaTV. In fact, Jason and Josh were interviewed on
RollaTV on January 13th. We should have footage up shortly. Below is
a link to UMR Research's post of our article.
