Join ACM this Wednesday as we host Dr. Sedigh as she gives a presentation on Applied Research in Networking.
The increasing ubiquity of computer networks has led to
interesting and diverse research in applications of networking, and vice
versa. We will discuss a number of areas where this research has been
particularly fruitful, including sensor networks for environmental
monitoring and intelligent critical infrastructure systems.
Dr. Sahra Sedigh is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Research Investigator with the Intelligent Systems Center at the Missouri University of Science & Technology.

Reflections|Projections provides a great opportunity for a weekend full of fun and expanding your knowledge. We will be organizing a group to attend Reflections|Projections, if you are interested in attending, please attend a meeting in the next couple weeks. If you are unable to attend a meeting, feel free to email an officer.
The Association for Computing Machinery at the University of Illinois is hosting its 15th annual computing conference on October 16-18, 2009. Reflections | Projections is an opportunity for us to bring together students from across the country to gain a broader perspective on computer science in the presence of some of the great minds of today and yesterday. Throughout the weekend, we’ll have several speakers from across the country (from industry and academia alike), a programming competition from in-house developers (MechMania), and a job fair for students and companies in Computer Science.

ACM’s biggest annual recruiting event, Graphics on the Grass, will be happening on August 26th this year and will feature all the favorites of years past: graphics demos, video games, and free pizza. Don’t pass up this opportunity to hang out with outstanding members of both ACM and the CompSci department, as well as see two projectors displaying on the side of the CS Building. Meet up with us on the north side of the Computer Science building (near the flags) at 8:30 pm, when we’ll get things started with a few demos and put out the pizza. And don’t forget your due money. This will be your first chance to become an ACM member for this school year.

On April 9th at 7:00pm in CS209A, Kate Holdener will be presenting about a yet to be decided topic. Kate is a recent PhD graduate from Missouri S&T (May 2008), and she will be able to speak from the perspective of a fresh grad in the working world.

On February 26th at 7:00pm, Sam Handlang from FlightSafety will be coming to speak to Missouri S&T ACM. FlightSafety’s visual simulation systems division is located in St. Louis, MO and they are the largest simulator manufacturer in the United States.
