IDC iPhone Development Presentation Followup
The Interdisciplinary Design Collaborative LLC has posted a recording of the iPhone Development talk they gave at the Student Speaker Series meeting on April 7th. The video is available for viewing here.

Life After Graduation – Kate Holdener
On April 9th at 7:00pm in CS209A, Kate Holdener will be presenting about a yet to be decided topic. Kate is a recent PhD graduate from Missouri S&T (May 2008), and she will be able to speak from the perspective of a fresh grad in the working world.
We will also be having OFFICER ELECTIONS. So it is very important that all paid members come to cast their votes! Please come if you are interested in running for office.

Clint Rutkas from Microsoft
Clint Rutkas from Microsoft is coming back to Rolla on February 12th! Clint will be talking about cool stuff he has done. He ensures us that he’ll have no problems talking about himself and his projects and you better believe it. Clint has worked on projects ranging from a homemade segway to an automated bartender – come to our meeting to learn more!
After the meeting, we’ll be having another Xbox360 event. Clint is bringing the Xbox’s back and we’ll be setting up for Gears of War 2 or Halo 3 – be sure to join us!
S3 – Google Android Development
Join us for the first speaker of the Student Speaker Series, Nick Pegg. Nick’s presentation is entitled “Using the Android Platform for Fun and Non-profit” – he’ll be talking about the Android platform and how to develop your own applications within it.

S3 – The Student Speaker Series
This semester, ACM and ACM SIG Security are teaming up to give you S3 – The Student Speaker Series.
The aim of the series is to introduce Missouri S&T students to cool technologies that they’re interested in. The series will occur in addition to the regularly scheduled ACM and ACM SIG Security meetings. The series will consist of Missouri S&T students giving walkthrough/workshop style presentations for their respective technologies.

The Microsoft Meeting – Recap
We had a pretty good turnout for Clint’s talk on cloud computing. Afterwards, we played Gears of War 2 on the 4 Xbox 360’s he brought down. There were prizes ranging from a copy of Windows Vista to a copy of Gears of War 2 to Microsoft t-shirts. Clint also left us with some prizes for the next MinerLAN – thanks Clint!

Arcade Cabinet Progress!
Josh and I painted the MAME cabinet today – we put on two layers of primer and two coats of black paint. The cabinet should be up and running for the December 4th meeting!
